I loved how the visual art work would bring something unique and different from each piece making listening to an already known song a new experience.

I loved the live-ness of the exhibition, how immersive it felt and that we were given an insight into the creative process behind it.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

The first screenings happened in an intimate space in Bermondsey on the 2nd of July 2023. On this day, a small group of guests were invited to attend a twenty minute session, which included four visuals, each linked to a classical music piece. Some of the famous pieces used were Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker March, the first movement of Beethoven’s fifth Symphony and Elgar’s Nimrod.

INTERACTION

To achieve a more immersive experience, the audience was taken into the session in groups of two to four people and given a pillow to seat on. The responsiveness of the visuals influenced the way guests interacted with the graphics and the objects around them. Aware that the visuals would pick up any sound in the room, some people collectively were more inclined to listen silently in order not to interfere with the performance; Whereas others felt comfortable singing, clapping or improvising with it.

IDENTITY

The identity for the exhibition was created based on the words perfection and expression. Searching for the clean and minimalist symmetry of the furniture, the expressive part was composed of black and white posters and lino prints of the logo, which were scattered across the room. The logos were printed on cotton tote bags, to further explore the distortion of Dynamic, as in the digital poster artwork. As this exhibition is taken to larger spaces, larger fabric printing will be explored.
